A letter signed by director of the group, Aliko Dangote, states that the organization is as of now setting out on rebuilding because of high cost of production in both industries.

The letter says that this year has been the most troublesome for the group. Part of the letter reads

This year has been an exceptionally difficult one for us as a business. The inaccessibility of foreign exchange, combined with a remarkable climb in exchange rate has brought about expanded expenses over the organisation. This required an appropriate survey and adjustment of our expenses across board to guarantee proficiency and adequacy in the arrangement of our factors of production in an offer to dispense with repetition that we know exist, which brought about some extreme choices which implies losing staff, including some of our partners. On Friday, October 14, 2016, we started the procedure of staff reductions as it is basic to audit our human capital allocation for required reductions that would guarantee proficiency and dispense with redundancies in the portion of HR. This first phase of this exercise involved the cutback of 36 expatriate staff across the Dangote Cement Plc and Dangote Industries Limited and 12 local staff in Dangote Industries Limited.”
