FIRS Recruitment: 700,000 Nigerian Graduates Apply for 500 Job Positions

The Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, Tunde Fowler, has said that the organisation got over 700,000 applications from the recent employment advert it set. FIRS Recruitment: 700,000 Nigerian Graduates Apply for 500 Job Positions

Mr. Fowler made this known on Wednesday in Abuja when he showed up before the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petition.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the FIRS manager's appearance at the lower chamber took after a request of from a few candidates, who guaranteed to have been avoided from the recruitment process.

The Service had welcomed applications for different positions in arrangement of adverts put in some national dailies.

Mr. Fowler said that out of the 700,000 candidates, more than 2,000 had first class degrees in different field and met all requirements to be engaged by the Service.

He said that FIRS would select just 500 individuals, including that the practice was intended to build labor for tax revenue collection and grow the nation's income base.

He guaranteed that the association would guarantee decency and due process in the enrollment procedure.

"We have secured waiver and underwriting from the Federal Character Commission so as to guarantee that the best thing is finished.''

In his comments, Chairman of the house council, Nkem Abonta, coordinated Mr. Fowler to submit to the board the administration's nominal roll to help it in landing at a choice.
