ASUU Finally Call-Off Strike, Lecturers Resume Work

The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Tuesday confirmed that it had call off its one week nationwide warning strike over the non-usage of its 2009 concurrence with the Federal Government.ASUU Finally Call-Off Strike, Lecturers Resume Work

The President of ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, who said this in Abuja, asked lecturers to return back to their classrooms.

"We are gaining ground particularly with the intervention of the Senate and in the next one or two meetings, in the event that we can get an unmistakable way to the matter, we will maintain a strategic distance from the extension of the strike.

"I have been getting these reports that ASUU says strike still on, no, the strike ends Tuesday. All lecturers are to do a reversal to go back to work today (Wednesday)."

Ogunyemi said ASUU was confident of a positive result going by the reaction coming from the Federal Government.
