The new condition is that the new policemen will be employed based on their local government areas and would be deployed in their communities.

The recruitment was suspended following a clash between the Senate and the Police Service Commission.

The Senate had, in a letter four weeks prior, requested that the PSC suspend the enlistment over claimed abnormalities in the criteria adopted.

The legislators had asked that the enlistment be done on local government yet the PSC demanded that it ought to be done on state basis.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Abu Ibrahim (APC, Katsina-South), in any case, told writers in Abuja on Monday that the commission could now proceed with the enrollment.

Ibrahim declared that the conflict between the Senate and the PSC had been resolved.

"We have finalise the issue and the enrollment would be done on local government basis. Soon, the exercise will continue," he said.

The administrator expressed that the new intakes would shape the establishment for the beginning of community policing in the nation.

He said, “Nine personnel would be recruited per local government area. The policemen would be used to form a unit for community policing in all the 774 local government areas of the country.”
