How I Lost My Present Job While Search for a New Career - Jobseeker Shares

This is really an unfortunate experience for me. I decided to share the story of how i lost my present job while searching for a new career for you to learn from my mistake. How I Lost My Present Job While Search for a New Career - Jobseeker Shares

I applied for a job in an HR company and i was called for an interview at one of the renowned baking company in Lekki, Lagos. They told me i was successful and was invited for the last stage of the interview which was a chat, i am so glad about it. After the chat, the interviewer handed over to me a guarantor form and personal profile form to take home and fill and told me to expect an email from them.

That very day, when i got home i was excited and celebrated it with my family. We wine and dine.

After a week, i didn't hear from them so i was advised to call them off which i did and was told they are working on it and i will hear from them soon. Another week passed and no word. I called again and the HR person told me the job was placed on hold, meanwhile, i have already turned in a resignation where i was working, a mistake on my part.

The third week passed and my cousin placed a call to the HR of the company to enquire on if this job was still available and the offer letter still coming? The first HR person who didn't seem to have an idea transferred her to a lady I assumed was the HR Manager, who told her the job was placed on hold until further notice. She went on to tell the HR Manager that it was not professional to give a guarantor form and other documents if the candidate did not qualify for the job and also inform them wait for a mail and she told her it was a standard procedure.

She was so amazed, till now my question remain, is that a standard procedure of recruitment? Or only in Nigeria?

Please job seekers be careful.
