Why I Lost Interest in a Company That Recently Interviewed Me - Toka

Finding your passion at work means finding the full set of factors that contribute to your satisfaction and allow you to work most comfortably and productively. Why I Lost Interest in a Company That Recently Interviewed Me - Toka
Oghenerukevwe Toka, a Digital Marketer has shared a story of how he lost interest in a company that recently interviewed him. Read it below..

A few months ago, I got invited for an interview and after a long conversation, the interviewer asked me if I had any questions.

I smiled and said yes. I asked "Is this a great place to work? If yes, why?" She appeared confused and answered "Yes, this is a great place to work. You can achieve all your dreams here".

I didn't need anyone to tell me that I didn't belong there. Employers need to realize that employees want more and should be able to boldly give specific reasons why employees should choose them over others.

Actually, i didn't have a particular expectation of an answer, it's just an honesty test. If it was really a great place to work, she would have had the answers that'll leave me nodding in anticipation of experiencing the organization's culture. If she believed she was working in a great place, she would have a more specific answer. It's like asking, do you love where you work? why?

Recruiters should be able to intelligently convince a prospective employee to accept their job offer. Interviews is a two way thing. Unfortunately, most Nigerian HR wants the candidate to do all the work, to impress them and blow them away without them playing their part. To the Human Resources Managers, If a person you are interviewing have the skill you require, do well to impress him or her. You are not their only option.

Employer should build a brand that can attract top talent and prepare to answer questions smartly even from the interviewee. The times have changed.
