I Quit Banking Teller Job and I am Glad I Did!

After my National Diploma Industrial Attachment, i got a Teller job with a Top 3 bank in Nigeria.I was glad and the pay was good. Days into the job, i started getting frustrated with the way contract staff were being treated and spoken to.You cannot even say your mind as a contract staff, it gets worse when new Trainees are posted from training school and you have to report to them.

I hated the role and the work environment but I liked the pay. I got an admission for a Bachelors Degree in Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU). I had a life changing decision to make; to resign to go to school or to continue with the job due to the unemployment rate.

I decided to quit and everyone thought I was mad for leaving certainty for an uncertain academic degree. Some asked if my employment at the Bank ll be reserved, deep inside I rebuked such prayers.

After 3 years in OAU,I graduated top of my Faculty with 4 Convocation awards. The decision to quit was the best I made for my life and my career. Looking back after 10 years, I had no regrets and I am glad I quit.

I am not there yet but I'm thankful to God for the progress I have made& hopeful for the future ahead.

If you are in doubt, maybe it's time to take that bold step that will change your life forever.
